How to use FRD
The Friday picks, the public record, and tracking your own picks in My Picks.
Now you can read a line. Here’s how the parts of this site fit together, and how to use them with what you’ve learned.
Today and Games: the research
Today shows what moved, who’s hurt and what the weather will do. Games has every NFL and college game on the board with the current spread and total. Tap a game for injuries, weather and line history. Lines are snapshots, so confirm the number before you bet.
FRD picks: what we play
Our card publishes Friday 3:00 PM ET, and it carries only the plays that qualify: a play makes it only when our number disagrees with the market. There is no set number of picks. A full card tops out around 8 sides and totals and 3 player Glossary Prop A bet on something other than the final result, like a player’s receiving yards. Full glossary , counting any Early Play. Each pick shows the line, the price, the Glossary Unit (u) A standard bet size. Results are tracked in units, not money, so a record reads the same no matter how much anyone bets. +4u means four standard bets ahead. Full glossary Lesson: Bankroll & units and a short reason in plain language.
Some weeks are light, and the card says so: “Only 3 qualified this week. Passing is part of the process.” Some weeks nothing qualifies. Then you’ll see No plays this week with the closest games we passed on and a short reason for each. A pass is a decision, not a missed week. Weekend updates can add a play on late news.
Our method in one line: our number vs. the market, graded against the close. We pass on most games. More in How we pick.
The record: check us
The public record has every published pick, losses included, graded win, loss or push and against the closing line. Right now it reads 25–21–2, +4.33u through NFL Week 4 / CFB Week 5. Rows are never deleted; corrections are logged.
Read it like this lesson path taught you:
- Win rate vs. break-even. 54.3% of decided picks won. Compare that with the 52.4% you’d need if every bet were at −110. Ours aren’t all at −110, which is why units and Glossary ROI Units won divided by units risked. +5% ROI means 5 units of profit for every 100 units bet. Pushes are left out. Full glossary Lesson: Bankroll & units are there too.
- Beat the close. Look at the Beat / = / Missed column. The close is logged on 33 of 48 picks so far, and the record says where it isn’t.
- Sample size. 48 picks is a start, not proof. Remember the streak math from the bankroll lesson.
My Picks: your own record
My Picks is a free tracker. Tap Track on any game card to log a spread, total or moneyline in units. Picks are graded from final scores (or by hand), and if you add the closing line, each pick shows whether you beat it. You also get your ROI, a side-by-side “You vs FRD” on the same games, and a CSV export.
Key takeaways
- Today and Games are the research: moves, injuries, weather, lines.
- FRD picks publish Friday 3:00 PM ET, only the plays that qualify (no set number), each with line, price, units and a reason.
- Light weeks say so, and a week with no plays is posted as “No plays this week.” Passing is part of the process.
- The record shows every pick, losses included, and how each did against the close.
- My Picks tracks your own bets in units, with beat-the-close and You vs FRD.
